Dr. Vinod Vidwans

Brief info

Dr. Vinod Vidwans inherits Vedic and Indic knowledge tradition and currently engaged in research on various Indic themes. He has delivered a series of 26 lectures on Patanjal Yoga Sutra and a series of 40 lectures on Bhagvad Gita at Yoganjali, Pune for Yoga teachers and Yoga practitioners.

Taking inspiration from ancient Indian wisdom, he tries to blend ancient Indian knowledge systems with the modern and contemporary developments in science and technology. He has designed and developed a Creative Intelligent Expert System (AI Raga System) for Indian Music. This AI System is based on the concepts from Bharata’s Natyashastra and Sangita Ratnakara of Sharangadeva. The AI System generates a Bandish (a musical composition) on its own without any human assistance in a given Raga and renders it in traditional classical Indian style. This creative AI System uses principles of artificial intelligence (AI).

In 2017-18, he has designed and made a new musical instrument called `Bharat Veena’ based on the two thousand year old theory of `Shrutis’ (microtones) from Bharata’s Natyashastra.

Dr. Vidwans is a cognitive philosopher, a designer and a portrait painter. He has done his Ph. D in Cognitive Philosophy and Master of Design from Indian Institute of Technology, Powai, Mumbai. Dr. Vidwans is a dedicated Teacher, Researcher, and a Designer with substantial managerial experience in the industry. He is currently a Professor at the FLAME University, Pune. Earlier he was a Professor at National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. He has been a visiting professor & resource person at many prestigious institutes including IIM Ahmedabad, IIT Kanpur, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and Central University of Hyderabad to name a few. He has been a member of Board of Studies and Doctoral programs of many renowned Institutions and Universities in the country.
